It's wonderful to observe firsthand the 'My First Day at School' event organized by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on October 3rd, 2023.
This event, led by the Director-General, Dr. Eric Nkansah, and attended by various dignitaries, including the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, and the Deputy Minister for Education in charge of TVET, Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo, is a heartwarming initiative to welcome children who are starting their educational journey in KG (Kindergarten) and Basic One.
The schools visited as part of this event in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Area were:
1. Bedu-Addo Methodist Cluster of Schools
2. Butumagyebu S.T.M.A Primary School
3. St. Veronica's Catholic E.C.D.C Butumagyebu
In attendance were the Deputy Director-General in charge of Management Services, Mr. Stephen Kwaku Owusu; the Director in charge of Schools and Instructions, Mr. Prince Charles Agyeman Duah, the Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Felicia Agyeibea Okai. the Metro. Director of Education, Mrs. Sally Nelly Coleman, and other Directors of Education to celebrate ‘My First Day at School’.
This event is a significant occasion for both the children and their families as they embark on this educational adventure.
It helps create a positive and supportive atmosphere for young learners as they take their first steps into the world of formal education.
Additionally, the acknowledgment of UNICEF's support highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring the success of such initiatives, which ultimately contribute to the well-being and development of children in Ghana.
Kudos to GES for organizing and celebrating 'My First Day at School.'
