During the struggle for independence, the opposition activists use to convene some of their meetings at the “Bottom of the Tree” near Takoradi railway station. Those activists together with their comrades across the country metamorphosed eventually to form the base of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

They were sentimentally and politically of Danquah – Busia tradition, which was turned by the dynamism of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Coups disrupted the political and economic journey of Ghana.

Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings agreed to return the nation to political rule. Rawlings and his friends formed the National Democratic Convention (NDC).

By then CPP had fallen into disarray.

Those with the Danquah – Busia political sentiments formed the base of the National People’s Party (NPP) in Takoradi and branded themselves ‘opposition.’

Dr. Rawlings could not emulate the dynamism of Dr. Nkrumah, so Takoradi remained in opposition over his long reign.

Kyzzfmonline was eager to find out how Lawyer Frederick Faidoo will fare where Rawlings and other NDC charges dared and failed.

Lawyer Frederick Faustinus Faidoo also known as Nanabanyin Kweku Ntaama bagged 558 votes during the party’s parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Speaking to Kyzzfmonline, he prided himself in the fact that “I always feel excited when I can put a smile on somebody’s face, and that is even the more reason why I want to bring smiles unto the faces of the people of Takoradi who have been crying for so long”.

Would you be able to finish what Rawlings started?

‘Yes,’ he answered.

However, he does not agree with the fact that his most obvious political opponent is the mindset of the people of Takoradi.

He believes that a mindset is not formed in a vacuum and can always be changed at any time. “It depends on the message you take to the people “.

As a politician, he said he will have to find out why the people of Takoradi have made up their minds in such a way and find a solution to it.

He claims that because he is a homeboy, he is aware of every rumor or view, and opinion of the people of Takoradi.

He continued to say that every human being is a political animal and people do politics everywhere, at home, at the workplace, and even in the church and this could play to his advantage.

He concluded that “I am hoping to let the people of Takoradi know the truth by telling them about the conditions in the past and compare it with the current governance.”

It remains to be seen what political machinery will be deployed to accomplish this task!
